At Meraki Granite, quartz kitchen tops start from R3,280 per m², including VAT and installation. That price is the same at every one of our branches, from our Head Office and Factory in Nkowankowa to Tzaneen, Polokwane, Namakgale, Acornhoek and Metz. Every top is cut and polished to size in our own factory in Nkowankowa, and on installation day our team cuts and polishes the sink and hob cut-outs on site.

This guide explains what drives the price of a quartz countertop, what a typical kitchen works out to, how quartz compares with granite on cost, and how easy it is to get a quote: send us a simple drawing or your measurements, or ask us to measure.

What drives the price of a quartz countertop

1. Square metres. Quartz is priced per m², so the size of your tops is the biggest factor. Twice the area means roughly twice the price.

2. The colour you choose. R3,280/m² is a “from” price. White quartz starts from R3,280 per m² too, including VAT and installation. Your quote confirms the price for the exact colour you pick.

3. Cut-outs, edges and splashbacks. We do edging, cut-outs (for your sink and hob) and splashbacks. Splashbacks use extra stone, so mark them on your drawing. We work out the cut-outs and splashbacks for you, and your final price depends on the size, the colour and the finishing, which is why we always quote first.

4. Distance from your nearest branch. Travel is charged in rings around your nearest branch: from R900 for up to 50km, R1,800 up to 100km and R2,700 up to 150km. Beyond 150km, travel is confirmed on your quote.

How to get your quote: three easy ways

You don’t need to work out square metres yourself. Send us a simple drawing or your measurements and we’ll work out your quote. Prefer us to measure? Ask and we’ll come to you. For a drawing, just:

  1. Do a simple drawing of your kitchen tops, including any island.
  2. Write the sizes on the drawing.
  3. Mark where the splashbacks go.
  4. Mark where the stove or hob and the sink go.
  5. Mark which edges must be polished.
  6. Send it to us with the colour you like and your location.

We then work out the square metres, the splashbacks, the cut-outs, the travel and the total price for you. When you give the go-ahead, we measure your kitchen properly on day 1, so the final size comes from our measure.

Example: what 4 m² of quartz costs

As an illustration, here’s what a typical 4 m² kitchen works out to. Your quote does the sums for your own kitchen.

  • Quartz: 4 m² × R3,280 = from R13,120, including VAT and installation.
  • Rustenburg Black granite: 4 m² × R2,400 = R9,600, including VAT and installation.

Travel is charged in rings around your nearest branch: from R900 for up to 50km, R1,800 up to 100km and R2,700 up to 150km. Beyond 150km, travel is confirmed on your quote.

Quartz vs granite: what’s the cost difference?

Rustenburg Black granite is our lowest price per m², at R2,400/m². Quartz starts from R3,280/m², so for a 4 m² kitchen the difference is about R3,520.

What you get for the difference:

  • Quartz is engineered stone with even colour and very little maintenance, including clean whites and soft greys.
  • Granite is natural, hard-wearing stone, and every slab is unique.

Both include VAT and installation. Want the full comparison, including porcelain? Read granite vs quartz vs porcelain, or see our granite kitchen tops in Limpopo page and the popular Rustenburg Black.

From quote to installed tops in 3 days

Once we have your drawing or your measurements, or we’ve measured for you, your quote usually comes back within a few hours, and it’s valid for 6 months.

When you give the go-ahead, our 3-day service runs like this:

  1. Day 1: we measure your kitchen and receive payment.
  2. Day 2: your tops are cut and polished to size in our Nkowankowa factory.
  3. Day 3: our team cuts and polishes the sink and hob cut-outs on site, outside in your garden or yard, then installs and cleans up your kitchen tops.

To keep it on track:

  • Your cupboards must already be installed before we measure.
  • Your stove or hob and your sink must be on site on installation day.
  • We need some outdoor space (your garden or yard) on installation day, because that’s where the sink and hob cut-outs are cut and polished.
  • If you’re replacing old tops, remove them before installation day and arrange your own plumber and electrician to reconnect your sink and hob. We don’t offer plumbing or electrical services. These are things you arrange; they aren’t part of our service.
