Which kitchen top suits a Polokwane home?

Summers here are hot and dry, winter mornings are chilly, and many households rely at least partly on borehole water, which tends to leave chalky marks on taps and sinks. Keep that in mind as you choose:

  • Quartz (20mm) is the low-fuss option. Because it’s non-porous, coffee rings and cooking oil sit on the surface and come off with a cloth. Soft greys and whites keep an open-plan room feeling bright. Explore our quartz range.
  • Granite (usually 30mm, also made in 20mm) is natural stone with real depth of colour. Speckled and mid-tone granites disguise water spots better than a solid black polish, which matters if your water is hard. Browse granite and natural slabs. Popular granite colours at our Polokwane branch include Rustenburg Black, Crema Grigio, Zimbabwe Black, African Ivory Coast and African Tapestry.
  • Porcelain (12mm) is slim, strong and heat resistant, with large-format marble and stone looks that make a statement island in a new estate home. Look through our porcelain tops.

The complete colour list lives on the Meraki Collections page.

Our Polokwane branch

Visit us at 75 Landdros Mare Street, Polokwane Central. We’re open Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00 and Saturday 08:00–13:00. Pop in to chat about colours and look through the catalogue with the team. A photo of your floor tiles, cupboard doors or wall colour makes it easier to narrow down the options. Kitchen-top prices here are the same as at every other Meraki branch. For directions and our other branches, see our contact page.

How a Polokwane job runs

Our factory is in Nkowankowa, about 115km east of the city, which is roughly a two-hour drive over Magoebaskloof. Once you give the go-ahead:

  • First, we do the final measure in your Polokwane kitchen so the tops match your cupboards exactly.
  • Next, your kitchen tops are cut and polished to size in Nkowankowa, in our own factory, using those measurements.
  • On the day, the sink and hob openings are made on site. We do that cutting and polishing outside, in your yard or garden, and tidy up once it’s done.
  • Then the tops go in, along with edging and any splashbacks.

From measuring to installation takes about three days, the same timeline described on our granite kitchen tops hub.

Polokwane FAQs

Do I need to drive to Nkowankowa to choose my colour?

No. The team at the Landdros Mare Street branch can talk you through the colours in the catalogue and set up your quote.

Do you install in Seshego and Mankweng as well?

Yes. We fit tops across greater Polokwane, including Seshego, Mankweng and the smallholdings on the edge of the city.

Will hard borehole water mark my tops?

Water won’t damage granite, quartz or porcelain, but minerals can leave dull spots if they’re allowed to dry on the surface. A quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth after cleaning keeps the finish clear.
